Master in Alimentary Science: Nutrition and Dietetics; biochemistry
Karolinska Institutet

Biography

Anne's academic journey began with the Matriculation Examination in 1981, followed by an MSc in Alimentary Science in 1998, with a focus on nutrition. Her master's thesis explored the nutritional differences between D2 and D3 vitamins and their detection in serum using SP-HPLC and RP-HPLC techniques. In addition to her scientific studies, Anne pursued voluntary language courses in Spanish, French, and Italian at the University of Helsinki. Unfortunately, Anne fell seriously ill in 1989, interrupting her plans to complete her master's studies. For the next two decades, she struggled with various symptoms, including chronic insomnia. Despite facing challenges, Anne believes that the demand for her expertise in Finland's specialized field of study was limited due to economic recessions. In 1990-1991, Anne worked as a special consultant at the Finnish-Swedish Martha Covenant. Her responsibilities involved planning and executing consultant activities, delivering speeches on nutrition and healthy eating to the Finnish-Swedish population living along the coast, and writing articles for the Martha Magazine. Additionally, Anne contributed to the writing of a book on Finnish-Swedish food culture called "The FoodBook" (Matboken). She also represented the Finnish-Swedish Marthas Covenant at various meetings. Following her work at the Martha Covenant, Anne was invited to lecture on nutrition and microbiology at the Helsinki Swedish Nursing Institute for one year in 1991. After her retirement, Anne experienced a significant improvement in her sleep patterns in 2012, at the age of 50. In 2014, Anne applied for a job at an international fur company, where she worked for two full seasons between November 2014 and June 2016, aiming to reintegrate into the workforce. Later, in January 2017, she pursued studies at Uppsala University, enrolling in the Dietetic Program for a total of 11 months initially and 6 months subsequently. Anne's desire to continue her studies in Sweden persists, though financial considerations remain a significant factor.
